SUN 287. GLAD ALL OVER/ LEND ME YOUR COMB. 10" 78 RPM. Here's the story: This 78 was originally in a warehouse in Camden, NJ. As the 78 era came to a close the remaining stock got shoved further and further back into a dark and distant corner. As more time passed nobody remembered they were even there. When the warehouse closed in the early 1970's they were uncovered. These 78's were sold to the owner of a used record store at the Pennsauken Mart. They were briefly put out for sale. However by 1975, when very few had sold, it was apparent that at that time nobody gave a damn about 78's. It would have been like trying to sell an 8-track tape in 1993. They were regarded strictly as an obsolete format. The owner boxed them up and put them in storage where they remained for decades. This copy is unplayed and comes in the original brown paper sleeve. There is just some very light storage wear, HOWEVER a needle has never touched the surface of the record and it retains full gloss. The storage box shown in the photos comes with this 78.
FINAL COPY WITH BOX - I've been listing these Carl Perkins 78's for the last 2 years. I'm down to the last copy that's in top condition. I have more that have some storage wear (still very nice though) and will be listed in the future. I am listing this copy with a storage box to go with it. The photos shown with each listing are the exact 78 and box you'll be getting.
I'm very experienced in shipping 78's safely- check the feedback. The 78 will be sandwiched between rigid cardboard and then wrapped in bubble wrap and shipped in an oversized box. However, no matter how well packed a 78 might be there is still the risk of breakage. For domestic buyers insurance is included in the shipping cost. Insurance is not available for international orders and all risk is assumed by the buyer. If that risk is too much for you (I completely understand if you feel that way, I would too) please do not bid.
Save on shipping with multiple wins. For domestic buyers each additional LP is 25 cents for media mail. Priority depends on your location. For International buyers each additional LP is $4.00. I do not end auctions early and will not respond to requests to do so. Due to a persistent problem with late payments, full payment is required within 72 hours unless other arrangements are made.
Attention: Be aware that the US Postal Service DRAMATICALLY increased rates, especially for International shipping, on January 27, 2013. Please do not bid before checking shipping charges.
GRADING
Near Mint - No visible flaws, full gloss appearance.
VG++ - Not quite NM but a nice desirable copy, extremely minor wear.
VG+ - Shows signs of wear but has no major flaws.
VG - Obvious signs of wear, but still has life in it. VG does not mean beat.
VG minus - Moderate to heavy wear, OK if you need a filler copy.
G - Borders on unplayable. Don't be bothered.
