HORIZON / CARPENTERS

It was the first Carpenters album to be recorded on a 24-track multitrack recorder. Jim Gordon, formerly of Derek and the Dominos, participated in the Carpenters' recording for the first time. Love is the Color of the Rainbow (Desperado)" was covered by the Eagles (the Japanese title of the Eagles' version is "Ranarusha"). Please Mr. Postman" is a cover by the Marvelettes. Solitaire" is a cover by Neil Sedaka. Sedaka was the opening act for the U.S. tour that accompanied this album, but had to drop out of the tour halfway through. Although this album did not rank in the top 10 in the U.S., it spent a total of five weeks at No. 1 on the U.K. Album Chart. In Japan, it did not sell as long as "Now and Then" (1973), but it did reach No. 1 on the Oricon chart of overall albums. The preceding single from this album, "Please Mr. Postman," reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, followed by "Only Yesterday" at No. 4 and "Solitaire" at No. 17. All three singles reached No. 1 on Billboard's Easy Listening Chart (later the Adult Contemporary Chart). ・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・ There are a few tears, but the vinyl type obi is attached.
