Description
Offered for Sale is a Cat Stevens "GREATEST HITS" AUDIOPHILE (half speed mastered) lp.
Before he changed his name to Yusef Islam, he had a slew of hits built around his soft, yet sometimes coarse, vocals. He utilized a variety of instrumentation and rhythms in his predominantly acoustic arrangements, and songs like “Peace Train,” and “Another Saturday Night” had a multi-cultural feel to them. "Greatest Hits" provides a decent overview of his more popular work, including the poignant “Oh Very Young” and “Father & Son.” The lovely “Morning Has Broken” has elements of Stevens’s growing concern with religion, philosophy, and the relationship between the cerebral and the spiritual.
It is on the A&M record label with the LP # SPJ-4519.
This is the ORIGINAL 1975 AUDIOPHILE GATEFOLD lp, with the ORIGINAL audiophile lined inner A&M sleeve.
This LP had never been played, (till now) but as a PROMO I received it open. I play tested it and can say 100% that the record is primo.
Never the less, after 35 to 45 years of shifting around in boxes, wear does occur, so PLEASE check the photos for a clear picture of what you will be receiving. I do not rate covers, only the vinyl itself. Also, there may be minor scuffing marks, from the inner sleeve. This IN NO WAY affects the sound, or I would not list it. There is also the possibility that the inner sleeve could have a slit on one or more of its sides.
NOTE: I was a buyer for two different record chains in Hollywood, Ca. As such, I received a couple of boxes of records a week, to entice me to buy. More often than not, they were always open copies, and if you wanted to sell them to a used record store you could only get about a $1.00 cash, or $2.00 in trade for them.
