Description

Although a fan since "Matthew & Son", "Tea for the Tillerman" was the 1st album I worked on while living in the midwest. (It was Cat Stevens' 4th album). The album was released in November 1970.
"Tea for the Tillerman" includes some of his best-known songs and some of my favorites: "Where Do the Children Play?", "Hard Headed Woman", "Wild World", "Sad Lisa", "Longer Boats", "Miles From Nowhere", and "Father and Son".
The former art student, Cat Stevens created the album's cover art. A beautifully crafted album to begin with, ten years after that 1970 release a special edition was created by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs (MFSL). "Tea For The Tillerman" was the 35th album released in their series of Original Master Recordings. I recall sitting with Mobile Fidelity President Herb Belkin in late 1979/early 1980 to talk about the release of "Tea for the Tillerman" by MFSL. The series was all about releasing the best sounding vinyl. (This would be A&M's 4th release by MFSL).
The 'short' version of these vinyl records is this: The half-speed production and mastering was performed by Original Mastering Works. These albums were specially-plated and pressed on High Definition Super Vinyl by Victor Company of Japan. The packaging included a special static-free inner sleeve and special heavy-duty protective packaging. MFSL used the original master tape and mastered their release using the Ortofon cutting system.
This album has never been opened. It is still secure in its sealed original protective outer wrap. It has been in my collection for almost 40 years.
Shipping is free within the lower 48 United States. Alaska, Hawaii and U.S. Territories are $5 more. International shipping on request. Depending on location, shipping will be via USPS or FedEx.
