One Essence (High Note, circa 1976-1977)
When one thinks of all the hard-to-find albums over the past 50+ decades that have been reissued (sometimes more than once!), it boggles the mind that this amazing, beautiful, unique, and insanely rare record has never been reissued. Cedric Im Brooks, of Light of Saba fame, cut this record after they disbanded. This album isn't quite reggae, isn't quite soul, isn't quite jazz—it's a treasure of all those things and much much more. The feel, the band, the songs—absolutely stellar. This album has long remained in my top 20 desert island discs. It is now time for me to let this fly off into the wild for another soul to enjoy.
The cover is in VG+ condition: colors on the front are still vibrant. There is minimal edge wear all around. Corners are ever-so-slightly bumped. The back is just a bit more worn (see pics); there is a tear on the back. But overall the cheap cardboard cover is still fairly stiff. PLEASE NOTE: I have kept the vinyl in a separate plain white cardboard sleeve for over a decade! It has not been stored in the sleeve!
The record is rates between EX- and VG+. It retains all of its original shiny sheen. No spindle marks. Remember, this was pressed in Jamaica in the mid-1970s, it was not pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Nonetheless, it is very clean and in great condition!

GRADING
I grade vinyl very conservatively. I don't just sell records, I buy them for myself as well. The only records I will grade Mint are sealed records, and even then will note cover condition. I do not rate records Near Mint. The next-highest rating for me is Excellent.
Mint = sealed
EX = like new condition, little to no wear visible
EX- = may have a sleeve mark or two that does not make noise, or slight sign of handling, but still plays excellent
VG+ = no major flaws, looks good and plays great, occasional minor pop or click, used but not abused
VG = may have some marks that play but no skipping; may have some pops and clicks. Still a solid record to listen to.
