- COMMENTS:2016 UK BGP record label 10-track Double Vinyl LP ~ TOTALLY MINT & UNPLAYED ~ 2015 was the year jazz hit the mainstream again. The catalyst for this was saxophonist Kamasi Washington's 3CD masterpiece The Epic, influenced by the symphonic, spiritually aware jazz of the early 70s. Celestial Blues is a compilation that shines a spotlight on some of the music that may have influenced The Epic . The ten tracks range from the evidently spiritual such as Gary Bartz's classic Celestial Blues or Joe Henderson & Alice Coltrane's astounding collaboration on Fire, to less obvious but just as relevant recordings by drummers Roy Brooks and Joe Chambers. Charles Earland's contribution bears a remarkable resemblance to Henrietta Our Hero a stand-out track from The Epic , whilst Carlos Garnett and Azar Lawrence's mix of saxophone, strings and voices could be a template for Washington's whole sound. The compilation is completed by fine examples of the era's jazz from Hampton Hawes and Bayeté Umbra Zind

All my items are graded according to the Record Collector�s grading system:
M (Mint): The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and the extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.
EX (Excellent): The record shows some signs of having been played but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VG (Very Good): The record has obviously been played many times but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
G (Good): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc.
F (Fair): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
