Description
Columbia DB 4341
This is the classic that the Swinging Blue Jeans took to No. 2 in the charts in 1963. This, however is the brilliant original from 1959 that somehow failed to chart in Britain.
I give this record an overall grading of 'E'.
Both sides of the vinyl retain a great sheen. Looking at this record under a 60W light bulb (no halogen lamps in my house) all i can see is the lightest of hairlines on either side. This really is a lovely looking piece of vinyl.
This record plays as good as it looks. Both sides have been played and they both play perfectly with no distortion whatsoever.
If there is a let-down with this record it is the label that is the culprit. There is no major issue with the 'B' side label, just a couple of very feint water-marks (at least that's what they look like to me). However, the 'A' side label, as well as having a couple of feint water-marks, also has a more profound mark (i don't know whether this is a water-mark or not). It also has a slight tear between the 'M' and the 'B' in 'Columbia'. (see photo). This tear is nothing too serious, and the text on both labels can be easily read.
All said and done, this really is a great copy of a record that doesn't come up for sale too often on ebay, and when it does, chances are it will not be in as good a condition as this one.
This record comes with a Columbia company sleeve. I'm not into grading company sleeves, as i really think it's pointless, having said that, there are no issues with the sleeve. No rips, no tears, no writing, etc etc.
If you are not happy with any of the above information, then please do not bid.
