"There are several errors in this album, the musicians are/were Reinol Andino, George Tacktikos, Burlin Speakes, Michael Britton "Blinkie" Thomas Alletto and Pepe Gomez, the other 3 played in CHANGO's 2nd album "Honey is sweeter than Blood" on Mercury Records; the album was recorded at Bearsville studios up in the mountains of Woodstock New York in 1974 with the blessings of the Late Albert Grossman of Bob Dylan's fame/ the B2 song should read BEMBE and Sacpa should read Sacapa/ Thanks Pepe Gomez"
RYM: "First class 'Santana' style latin rock that's surprisingly high quality. The comparison's are unavoidable with this band appropriating the "S" bands early 70's sound wholesale here, but actually doing a pretty fine job. In many respects, you could virtually consider it another "Santana" album and slot it happily between "Abraxas" & "Santana III" and be none the wiser. The highlight here is the second side, which is an excellent connected suite. If your starved for more music like that early Santana sound, this really hits the spot.
That was probably/maybe it's biggest problem when it was released. Santana itself had pretty much "been there, done that" and the style was a bit "last week" by '75. Everyone else had moved on to either a slicker, more studio and less loose modern variation of the sound or had started to incorporate Disco/Funk elements into their music...."Chango" on the other hand, still sounds like 1971." "A true masterpiece and one of underground America's most proud moments."
