Charles Brown – R&B 78 RPM On Aladdin 3076 –Black Night/Once There Lived A Fool
This is a extremely rare R&B 78 RPM record from about 1951. Charles Brown recorded for various R&B labels from the late 1940’s. Titles are “Black Night”/”Once There Lived A Fool”. Condition is a Strong VG with little evidence of scratches, rubs or scuffs but with some evident graying of the grooves on “Black Night” which was apparently the most played side. Labels are in Excellent condition except for a sticker that was neatly applied to the “Black Night” side. On play-testing, it played Loud & Strong but with BG noise thru-out, not as bad on “Well”. Both sides were pressed slightly off-center causing the tone arm to move back and forth up to ¼ inch. I detected no aural affects from this movement.
Tony Russell "Charles" Brown (September 13, 1922 – January 21, 1999), born in Texas City, TX – an American blues singer and pianist whose soft-toned, slow-paced blues-club style influenced the development of blues performance during the 1940s and 1950s. He had several hit recordings, including "Driftin' Blues" and "Merry Christmas Baby".
DELTA RHYTHM BOYS ON RCA 78 RPM 10 INCH–SMALL TOWN GIRL/AIN’T GONNA WORRY
Here is a really nice copy of the Delta Rhythm Boys “Little Small Town Girl”/”Ain’t Gonna Worry “Bout A Soul” on RCA Victor 20-2588, probably from the late 40’s. The disc appears to be NM. It played Loud, Clear & Strong.
