CHARLES MINGUS - MUSIC WRITTEN FOR MONTEREY, 1965. NOT HEARD... PLAYED IN ITS ENTIRETY AT UCLA, East Coasting 12.001, Number 704 of a limited edition.
This 1980's limited edition authorized release reproduces the very rare concert LP issued privately by Charles Mingus in 1966. Includes insert detailing the story behind the record, plus a 7 inch single containing a never issued track from Monterey 1965. The musicians are Lonnie Hillyer, Hobart Dotson, Jimmy Owens (trumpet), Julius Watkins (french horn), Howard Johnson (tuba), Charles McPherson (alto sax), Charles Mingus (bass, piano), Dannie Richmond (drums)
The tunes are Meditation On Inner Peace, Once Upon a Time There Was a Holding Corporation Called Old America, Ode To Bird and Dizzy, They Trespass the Land of the Sacred Sioux, The Arts of Tatum and Freddy Webster, Don't Be Afraid The Clown's Afraid Too, Don't Let It Happen Here. The bonus disk features another version of They Trespass the Land of the Sacred Sioux.
Condition of record is E+, no scuffs, no scratches, no spindle marks, plays clean and quiet. Gatefold jacket is very clean - no ring wear, no seam splits.

We play grade all of our records on quality equipment. We offer a money back guarantee that condition is as described. Plus (+) or Minus (-) indicates variations.
M = Mint. Brand new, unplayed. We never use the term "mint" to describe a used record, no matter how clean the record is.
E = Excellent. Some evidence of having been played, with no audible defect.
V = Very Good. Noticeable wear, visual and audible. Records with slight surface noise and/or scuffs fall into this category.
G = Good. Not really all that good. Records in this category have more significant damage or wear.
F = More severe damage, distracting surface noise. Only used in incidence of extreme rarity.
P = Poor condition, proves existence of record only.
We think that most buyers want to receive their winnings quickly, so we offer the fastest mail options and we pack our records very carefully in heavy duty mailers. Shipments are made on Saturday and Tuesday mornings. Records which have been paid for by 3:00 PM on Fridays and Mondays will be shipped on the next shipping day.;
