Description

This rare jazz 10-inch from 1956 in the American Recordings series on UK-based London Records is pretty scarce these days, featuring the mercurial talents of bass legend Charles Mingus, ably supported by Ted Macero (tenor/baritone sax), George Barrow (tenor/baritone sax), John LaPorta (clarinet/alto sax), Rudy Nichols (drums) and Mal Waldron (piano).

The vinyl has two feelable scuffs on one track on Side 1 which deliver a series of tics, and there is surface noise in the background. I'd grade side 1 at Good+ and Side 2 at VG.

The fragile laminated sleeve has seen better days with a seam split to the top edge, a repaired tear to the front and a section missing bottom right.

Labels are excellent, and vinyl comes in a cellophane inner sleeve.

So not one for audiophiles, but a rare jazz collectable nonetheless.
