Description

This is the rare original deep groove pressing of Charles Mingus “Mingus at Monterey” on Mingus JWS 001/002. The playing surfaces are in virtually new condition, with a high luster; perhaps played once.  The label design using “Mingus” in block letters as the record company name predates later issues that used the “Charles Mingus” script labels. The single cover (not a gatefold) is the original format and is in extraordinary condition – bright and clean throughout with just 1/8” wear at the opening corners.  Personnel include Lonnie Hillyer, Charles McPherson, John Handy, Buddy Collette, Jaki Byard, and Dannie Richmond. $400.00
