Description
Original issue of the rare 2-record set of Charles Mingus "Mingus at Monterey" on his own label, Charles Mingus JWS 001/002. Both deep-groove records have the Charles Mingus bass logo and script signature and are in near-new condition, with a high luster and virtually immaculate playing surface. But most important is the condition of the cover: this single pocket cover has been carefully preserved: bright and clean throughout with intact seams and no splits! This feature cannot be over-emphasized, since the single-pocket design of these covers did not hold up well from the two records it contained. Even with minor use, these covers often split on the top and bottom. This remarkable example, however, has only two slight paper breaks on the bottom seam.
Personnel of the 12-piece orchestra includes Charles McPherson, John Handy III, and Lonnie Hillyer.
