1985 mono issue, white label, original plain paper inner sleeves, liner notes insert, previously unreleased 7" 33 1/3 record insert. gatefold cover.
"Charles Mingus: Music Written for Monterey, 1965. Not Heard ... Played in Its Entirety at UCLA. Vols. 1 and 2" on Sept 25, 1965. This material was originally released in 1966 by Charles Mingus Enterprises, Mingus's mail order only label. Only 200 copies were ever pressed. Good luck finding one of those!. In 1985 Fred Cohen & Susan Mingus put together this numbered limited edition reissue. This is No. 3024.
Also included in this 1985 reissue as an insert is a 7" 33 1/3 record containing the previously unreleased "They Trespass the Land of the Sacred Sioux", which was recorded at Monterey on Sept. 18,m1965.
The Octet on all of the above includes Charles Mingus, Dannie Richmond, Charles McPherson, Julius Watkins, Lonnie Hillyer, Jimmy Owens, Hobart Dotson & Howard Johnson.
Records are MINT-: VERY SHINY & CLEAN!!! No spindle wear. Plays Great!!!
