Immensely Rare recordings by Charles Standfield "The Caruso of the Colored Race" with incredible piano playing by Jesse Crump, performing "Oh Baby" (DeSylva-Donaldson) and "They Needed a Songbird in Heaven (So they took Caruso away)" (Brown-Little-Stanley), on Standfield 20057 - this is a personal record recorded and pressed by Gennett (AKA the Starr Piano Co. of Richmond, Indiana). Standfield was affiliated with the Cedar Springs Hotel of New Paris, Ohio, and the label states: "Standfield - To Be Heard Regularly at the Cedar Springs Hotel, New Paris, Ohio (one of the few and rare opportunities to hear Jesse Crump at the piano), both sides are in V to V+ condition with some surface noise, but plays loud and strong, 78 rpm.
