Sleeve:  Excellent.  Vague sign of Ringwear, rub mark at corner where Gatefold style sleeve is hinged.  Sleeve has never been fully opened...remains stiff.  Please see  photos.

Album Review
Albums led by the great and vastly underrated trumpeter Charles Tolliver are few and far between.  This live set (originally released by the Japanese Trio label) finds Tolliver leading his Music Inc.  group, a quartet with pianist Stanley Cowell, bassist Clint Houston and drummer Clifford Barbaro.  Unfortunately the live set does have a bit of distortion in spots (particularly on some of the trumpet notes);  otherwise this strong postbop set would have received a higher rating. Tolliver plays quite well, stretching  out on three of his originals and Cowell's "Effi," plus an adventurous rendition of "'Round Midnight." Note - the reviewer was listening to the CD version of this LP.  We did not hear any distortion when playing the album prior to listing, and we did not hear any....which is not to say it is not there.  We are uncertain when we read this.  Exciting music made in that time period when sheer creative momentum seemed to carry over to the 1970's.  Tolliver is one very gifted player, as is pianist Stanley Cowell.  This was part of our personal collection which apparently is large enough that some albums we simply never did justice to....this being one of them.   There are not even any marks from spindle on the label.  It is truly a like new album.  Round 'n Round
