Description
A superb box set of FOUR LP disks for fans of vintage French cabaret / chanteur pop songs. Titled "Je Chante", this set features remastered recordings by CHARLES TRENET spanning the years 1937 thru 1975. Trenet's style, especially in his later singing years, reminds one of Charles Aznavour.
Pathe Columbia France 4-disk box set, catalog #116043. Includes 12" square booklet reproducing many vintage and charming photos and playbills of Charles Trenet. Released 1983. These are stereo vinyl disks, not a CD!
We test-play all used LPs on a high-end Technics turntable fitted with a Shure M95HE cartridge, tracking at 1.5 grams.
Disk grading: Six sides rare Excellent Plus, with clean and quiet surfaces, no scuffs, no scratches, and just a few random light static pops during the first few revolutions. Two sides (#7 and #8) rate Excellent, same as described above but with one light scratch on each side that makes a faint "tic". The listing photos show a typical side, so you can see what the labels look like.
Box grading: Very Good Plus. This is not a gatefold box. The top has one split corner, and is otherwise fine. The bottom is creased and has a few light scuffs. The booklet has some age / humidity spotting but is otherwise intact.
