ORIGINAL UK MONO FIRST PRESSING IN EXCELLENT CONDITION
Seldom seen in UK auctions is the First UK Mono pressing of Charles Mingus' The Black Saint And The Sinner Lady (CLP 1694) widely recognised as one of the most iconic and desirable jazz albums, with all-original compositions by Mingus. I have fully play-tested the vinyl, so my grading is based on how the record actually sounds, as well as how it looks.
Vinyl is Excellent, with very little detectable noise (although with the cacophony that is the Mingus band it would be impossible to hear anyway :-) ). Black HMV labels with required text layout denotes a first Mono UK pressing, with a couple of small spindle marks but otherwise in super condition. Being a 1963 mono jazz pressing, it goes without saying that the audio is incredibly powerful and clear, with the condition allowing full enjoyment of the wide dyamics between loud & quiet that characterise this recording.
Original cover is strictly graded Very Good++ - a fabulous example, with the only blemishes a few cosmetic creases near the edge of the laminate, some light ringwear on the back cover, and a spot of age-related discolouring close to the back opening (all of which I've documented in the photos). It is structurally very sound with no splits & fully intact spine.

Note that I separate the vinyl from the outer sleeve for postage to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me, and in the way I'd like to receive them.
