Description
This is Verve Records MGV-8100-3, The Charlie Parker Story, a black, deep groove, Verve Inc.USA, trumpet label original mono issue of this wonderful 3 lp box set collection of Parker sessions. The records vary in condition. Most all are VG++ showing some light marks and playing quietly. The first side of record 1 has two scratches and plays with light background crackle. The magnificent David Stone Martin cover has a small rip on the upper left (not on the drawing), repaired by clear tape. The back has a similar rip. The box itself is excellent and intact. There is a great 40 page book included with rare photos and discographical information as well as an extended essay by Nat Hentoff. It is in near mint condition. The labels are excellent. This would make a terrific addition to any jazz collection. The records were cleaned on a VPI 17 and played on a Linn Sondek LP12.
