I've just been giving this one a spin for play grading - it's been through a VPI cleaning machine (since taking the photos; also no alcohol used in the cleaning, just as a precaution) - and it sounds very decent indeed.  There are very few (even minor) clicks or pops, and a minimum of audible background noise.  (No jumps or audible scratches). There are a few crackles in the breaks between tracks (and the occasional light crackle during quieter track passages); overall, though, I'm finding it a very pleasurable listen.  So, objectively, I guess, VG+, maybe a little better.  A 60 year old album (same age as me); there was nothing here that interfered with my listening pleasure.

  Notably, the four Charlie Parker titles in this original Savoy 10" series (MG 900 to MG 9003) do not feature the later remastering done by Rudy Van Gelder for their subsequent appearance on  12" LP, which is considered to be one of his less successful remastering efforts.  They feature the original masters.

  So in this case, (and unusually for RVG) these original masters are held to be superior in sound.  (And despite Bird's extensive and rather unorganised discography, I think that these original Savoy 10 -inch vinyl releases might be the only place you'll find them).

This is the original dark red US Savoy label, with silver lettering, and with deep groove on both sides.Both labels are still clean and shiny, attractive and with no marks or writing.  There is a little, very slight, virtually negligible centre hole wear (see pics) which doesn't affect play at all; there are only the slightest of spindle marks.  There are a few light surface marks and scuffs, nothing serious or feelable, and nothing affecting play, and this vinyl itself is quite visually presentable.

Please do note that although I do play grade my vinyl as accurately as possible, I do think in terms of UK Record grading, rather than US Goldmine ones.  However I do always try to be absolutely honest (both in my description and photos) about any flaws or imperfections a record or cover might have; I'm always happy to answer any specific questions that you might have on condition. 

SLEEVE:

This is the earlier sleeve picture, not the later Burt Goldblatt laminated photo design. The front cover picture is pasted onto cardboard.  Front of sleeve is still pretty clean, no tears or stains.  there's just one slight light biro  mark (see pics, above the h of 'Charlie').  back of sleeve is still quite clean, with just a little discoloration around the edges, and some previous prices written in light ink and pencil in top left corner.  There is a full length seam split along the top and bottom edges, which extends for 3cm+ at top and bottom of the spine.  The remainder of the spine is intact.

The back of the sleeve advertises contemporary Savoy releases, up to MG - 9012 and MG -15015, which would seem to confirm the date of this album as either an original first (or very early second) pressing.  Apparently some copies  have a blank rear sleeve (i.e. lacking the printed adverts); there is some uncertainty as to which are the earliest.

I'll supply this one with a poly-lined inner bag of similar vintage.
