continues the quest to clear out years 

of accumulation from record collectors 

in New Jersey. We offer the following:

Released 1978, this is Cheap Trick with their WLP vinyl recording 

called From Tokyo to you. 

Epic – AS 518. 

This is a PROMO ONLY LP that was sent 

to US radio stations in the winter of 1978. The band was 

breaking huge in Japan in Spring of ’78 and they recorded 

two concerts at the Nippon Budokan. Ten tracks taken 

from both shows were compiled and released as a live album entitled 

Cheap Trick at Budokan, which was released only in Japan.

On the strength of their single “Surrender” there was a 

demand among US fans for this Japanese album. 

This 7-song, single disc version was sent to radio stations, 

who started playing tracks, most notably “I Want You To Want Me.”

With increased airplay, Epic finally released Cheap Trick 

at Budokan in the U.S. in February 1979. 

These tracks were mastered differently that the retail release.

I have been selling these over the years since the early 90s when I 

bought the record collection from Cheap trick's lawyer here in NJ.

 While in storage, one part of the white jacket got moist, leaving a 

stain, but it never touched the record.
