G.Basso-F.Cerri-G.Masetti Music rare original Italian 1960 issueChet Baker Sextet and Quartet ' Sextet & Quartet ' MUSIC LPM 2094 ( IT ) rec. in Milano at Gurtler Studio on Sept. 25, 26 and Oct.6, 1959 - rare first original 1960 Italian issue. On the trail off (dead wax) is printed '12 - 4 - 1960' - this is a very rare pressing with the mistake of writing on side B label ' Sextet & Quintet ' instead of ' Sextet & Quartet '
The 6et is Chet Baker : trumpet - Glauco Masetti : alto sax - Gianni Basso : tenor sax - Renato Sellani : piano - Franco Cerri : bass - Gene Victory : drums
The quartet is the same artists without Masetti and Basso
Side A : Look for the silver lining (De Sylva-Kern) - Lady Bird (Dameron-Parker) - My old flame (Johnson-Coslow) - Line for lions(Mulligan)
Side B : Tune up (Davis) - Cheryl blues (Parker) - Indian summer (Herbert) - Pent up house (Rollins)
Visual grading : record is VG+ on side A and VG- to VG on side B. Full lustre on side A has some wispy lines barely visible and a small scratch at the end of track two. Side B has some unfeelable lines and an evident long not feelable scuff. Labels have several spindle marks Playing grading : record is VG+ plays well with loud and clear sound. Has just some repeated light ticks in the last 2 minutes of track 2 due to the above mentioned small scratch. Very few light other occasional ticks Cover grading : cover is VG- to VG has light wear to corners, edges and to spine which has all titles clearly readable. Front cover has some creases around the edges and a light ringwear.
