Description
Chicago Transit Authority is the debut double studio album by the American Jazz-Rock fusion pioneers. It was released on the Columbia Records label in April 1969. The album became a sleeper hit, peaking at #17 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart. The title broke a longevity record set by The Beatles White Album by staying on the charts for an astonishing 171 weeks. Several singles were spawned from the album including “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is”, “Questions 67 And 68” and “ Beginnings”. It has been certified Double Platinum (2 million sold) by the RIAA. Truly an astounding, monumental and groundbreaking debut for sure that helped usher in the fusion of the Jazz Rock genre.
