Original UK Blue Horizon label mono press LP.

The first album by Chicken Shack, recorded in February at CBS Studios, London & released in June 1968. This features the classic Chicken Shack line-up with Christine Perfect on keyboards and vocals, alongside Stan Webb on vocals and guitar. Having been signed to Mike Vernon's Blue Horizon label in late 1967, their first album reached number 12 in the charts and led them to headline at many festivals. Johnny Almond & Dick Heckstall-Smith provided backing brass sections for the album.

This is the original mono issue with the double ring pressing groove and the KT tax code of the very first pressings, as the single groove ring and JT tax code were in use from late 1968 onwards. With the hand etched matrix numbers 7-63203-A-1/7-63203-B-1 and 1-/1- stampers of the very first copies pressed (see Discogs).   The Ernest J. Day & Co Ltd front laminated sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some very light corner/edge wear, some light laminate rubbing and a couple of small creases, with some light rubbing on the unlaminated rear cover. The spine is intact and mostly readable, the plain inner is intact and in VG+ condition.   The record is in visually EX condition, with only a couple of faint sleeve removal hairlines and one or two small needle marks/scuffs visible on each side. The labels are in EX+ condition, clean & bright with evidence of a couple of faint spindle markings on each side.   The sound reproduction is EX+, still clear & precise throughout with no loud hiss, pops or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some low, brief background noise during the run in grooves, overall a really great, clear and loud listen.   The matrix nos. are; 7-63203, A-1 stamper 1-, B-1 stamper 1-. This is one of the first few hundred copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1968 UK mono issue of this album!
