Child's Plate (Yantis, US 1974) Cover: VG+ (18"x14" poster, cover hand numbered 78/100 made, some wrinkles on cover, general cover/seam wear with no splitting) Record: VG to VG++ (some marks, scuffs, plays a little crackly in parts, no skips, plays mostly EX and better) Rare privately pressed lp out of Olympia, Washington. Excellent drifting, introspective folk psych in a loner, singer/songwriters direction. The cover states that it was recorded 'at home' between the dates of 1973 and 1974. The band consists Dan Sorrell on vocals, guitars, keyboards, clarinet, combs, sitar and wind chimes, Mark Rensel on arp synth, Tom Alvord on bass guitar, drums and spoons and Greg Albrecht doing crow calls and laughs (?). Sorrells vocal style often reminds me of a cross between David Crosby and Cat Stevens while being very unique, there are sound effects, cool synth work, great guitar work and the noted sitar. Though it is an apparent basement production affair the production and musicianship is very accomplished and beautiful. Songs include "Rainbow Eyes", "I'm Alone With Every Other One", "Natural Child", "A Friend", etc. This also comes with the large 18"x14" hand made lyric poster. The cover is in fine shape, the vinyl has some marks but plays mostly EX through out (I listened to the whole lp and really enjoyed it!) This is one of those rare lp's that are never seen and only 100 were made (hand numbered 78 of 100 on the lower right corner of the cover) The last one I saw was on a European list over 15 years ago and it was listed for close to $1,000! Try and find anything about it on the web and you will strike out, it is that scarce. No reserve. Good luck!
