This debut solo LP from Yes’ bass guitarist is hardly ever offered for sale in this condition.
“With very little electric guitar on the album, this is quite a unique album fuelled by bass and orchestra arrangements.”
This is the extremely rare real thing: a genuine Mint/EX+ condition UK first issue. The record is in flawless Mint condition and the cover and inner are in Excellent Plus condition. The poster is in immaculate mint condition. All items are free from any major defects like scratches, tears, dog-ears, stickers, writing, stains or the like. See pics. All items are the genuine originals bought together by me in 1975, not reprints or replacements. The LP is the original 1975 UK stereo LP, which was only played once or twice on top-end audiophile equipment and lovingly cared for.
“Anyone who likes Yes, the bass, and good music, should listen to it all the way through at least once.”
THIS HAS TO BE ONE OF THE BEST EXAMPLES OF THIS ALBUM EVER OFFERED FOR SALE IN RECENT TIMES
Fish Out of Water is the first solo album by English bass guitarist Chris Squire, released in 1975 on Atlantic Records. It was released during a period of inactivity from his progressive rock band Yes. Bill Bruford and Patrick Moraz of Yes contribute to the record, while Squire employs his signature bass skills as well as 12-string guitars and vocals. Also on the album are Mel Collins on saxophone and Squire's friend Andrew Pryce Jackman on piano. The album is in the same vein as the Yes album of the previous year, Relayer, though the sound is more fleshed out with the help of a full orchestra and the jazz context of "Lucky Seven". It was a moderate success, reaching number 25 on the UK Albums Chart.
This may be your only ONCE IN A LIFETIME chance to own this rare piece of music history in this condition.
“This is, without the slightest doubt, the best solo album by any Yes man, and it just so happens to feature Bill Bruford on drums and Patrick Moraz on keys.”
For those Yes fans who have not heard this solo release you are missing out for sure! Squire's first solo release is packed with superb Yes-like musicianship. As you would expect the album does concentrate and accentuate the bass guitar side of life, but don't be misled... this album is packed with superb music. In many ways it is my favourite of all the Yes solo releases and seems to have a very pure progressive feel to it. Chris is joined on the album by Mel Collins (Sax), Bill Bruford (Drums) and Patrick Moraz (keys) to name a few who add some very rich moments to the album. Musically this album moves in and out of many moods and offers nice speaker dynamics. This is really a brilliant recording and the only criticism one could make is the absence of Jon Anderson.
A fantastic time warp example of this rarity in amazing condition, a true investment grade item - get it while you can!
AND IT MUST SELL IN THIS ONCE ONLY AUCTION
