Description

Chris Thompson LP-Village Thing label-1973-ORIGINAL-NOT a reissue. If you don't know this record already, here goes... in 1973, Chris Thompson, a singer-songwriter from New Zealand, made an album for Village Thing records in Gloucestershire. The music itself is beautiful; a classic 'Ladbroke Grove' album, all original compositions. Chris had a wonderful voice, and an ability on the guitar to rival Jansch, Martyn or 'the other' Thompson. He went back to New Zealand (where he still plays today) and the album disappeared. But the story was only just beginning... Village Thing were a label who made small numbers of pressings of each album, typically about 1000 to 1500. Shortly after the release of Chris' album, they ran into financial difficulties, and the story goes (as far as I know it) that all but 99 copies of this album were dumped in a river as a tax dodge. The record is in good condition and plays well, no jumps or noticeable scratches. The sleeve shows some wear, but is intact. Discogs lists a copy of the album as selling for over £500.
