 Here is the almost impossible to find Chequered / New Revelation album by Chubby Checker on Ariola Records (85.038-V, 1971), licensed by PPX Enterprises (USA) (Ed Chalpin's company).

 Made and released in Spain as "Chubby Checker". The original Spanish price tag is on the rear upper-right corner.

 Who would have thought the Twist King would go Psych? And who knew there was much more to this guy's talent than just Twisting? This is Chubby Checker's Psychedelic Rock/Soul masterpiece, done in a manner similar to Jimi Hendrix and produced by Jimi Hendrix's former producer, the scoundrel Ed Chalpin. Information on the musicians involved is as hard to find as the the album itself. You'll recognize the voice immediatly, but this sounds nothing at all like the squeaky-clean "It's Pony Time" or "Let's Twist Again".

 I played the entire album and it plays fine with no skips and sounds good overall with just a few faint-light pops in places and between a few of the tracks (mostly on side-1), nothing annoying and can be easily ignored.
 
 
Jacket: Good, retains much of its gloss (a spot of paper-loss at lower-left, a 3/4" top-right seam-split, three corner-bumps, some discoloration on back and some faint/light ring wear and open-edge handling wear)
Vinyl: Very good, except for three light scratch marks. Nice luster.
Labels: Very good-Excellent.
clear inner sleeve: Fair (wrinkles and three small tears, but will send along a paper sleeve).


 "Slow Lovin" by Kal Mann and "Ballade Of Jimi (Hendrix)" by Curtis Knight. The other nine songs written by the Chubster himself.

Side 1: Goodbye Victoria / My Mind (Comes From A High Place) / Slow Lovin / If The Sun Stopped Shining / Stoned In The Bathroom / Love Tunnel.

Side 2: How Does It Feel / He Died / No Need To get So Heavy / Let's Go Down / Ballade Of Jimi.

 It's always advisable to clean a record before playing it in order to remove any dust/dirt build-up that might have occurred over the years sitting in the storage room.

                  
Records:
 Mint: Relatively speaking, as perfect as humanly possible (an LP, sleeve, jacket and any inserts still sealed in shrink-wrap are assumed to be Mint).

 Excellent (Near Mint): At first glance shows no obvious signs of wear or mis-handling. May show a couple of faint surface marks that should not affect sound quality.
 
 Very Good: May show some minor wear and/or up to several minor surface marks that should not affect sound quality. Labels may have light locating marks at the spindle hole, but no writing.

 Good: May show more than minor wear and/or scratches. One or more scratches may be felt, but will play through with no skips. Any surface noise should be easily tolerated or ignored.   


Jacket & sleeve:
Excellent (Near Mint): May show signs of minor wear. No seam splits, paper loss, writing, moisture damage or tears.

 Very Good: May show some light wear (rub, shelf, ring, scratches) and/or some light edge-creases, but no writing, seam splits, paper loss, moisture damage or tears. May have a "cut-out indicator" (notch, drill-hole, saw-cut, corner-clip), which has nothing to do with the quality or condition of the record. It was simply the way a company, for a variety of reasons, marked the album for sale at a reduced price.

 Good: Still solid. May show some moderate wear (rub, shelf, ring, scratches), one or more small tears and/or seam splits, minimal paper loss (price tag removal?), creases and/or a bit of light soiling. May be some writing and/or moisture damage, but no deep gouges, deep scratches, etc.
