Description
Chuck Berry Maybellene Chess Records 1604 78 RPM Rock and Roll
Recorded May 21, 1955; released July 1955.
Rolling Stone said, "Rock & Roll guitar starts here!"
It was a hit on Rhythm & Blues, Country Western and Pop Charts!
Sold 1 Million copies in 1955.
18th on Rolling Stone's list of 500 all time hits!
"Pivotal song in the emergence of Rock & Roll."
Disc Jockey, Alan Freed received partial credit for writing the song though it was probably part of the "Payola" for promoting the record.
I marked the condition of this record as "good." I am not an expert but I can see that it is much better condition than other 78's that I have seen. I think the condition can be contributed to the fact that it was probably kept in a sleeve.
Please note . . . I did not attempt to clean the record. There are pros and cons regarding cleaning so I will leave that up to you. (Probably will look and sound even better with a "proper" cleaning.
This is your chance to own a piece of recording history!
Thanks
