Description
Classic Records Deluxe 1S Edition LP box, Serial no. 218, NEW/SEALED/MINT
IMPORTANT NOTE: Serial no. 218 is also attached to a Classic Records "1S Brit Box," containing ten RCA LPs recorded with British orchestras, as well as a deluxe RCA/Soria Ansermet/Royal Ballet Box. (In 1994-1995 Classic offered subscribers a chance to pick up the same serial number of each issue.)
BOTH of those other boxes are also for auction at this time, so be sure to check "Seller's other items" if you're interested in the set!
This auction is for Classic Records' 1994 issue of the first ten titles of their first RCA reissue series. The box itself was delivered open, but all LPs inside are sealed, with no compromises of the perforations. The box contains two letters from Michael Hobson and Ying Tan, Classic's founders, as well as the original, untouched cassette of "The Living Stereo Story" that was packed in the box. In addition, there are two pressings of LSC-2456, since the initial repressing may have contained a label and/or pressing error. (See letter.) Since the LPs are still sealed I don't know whether it contains the error, but the initial repressing and the correction are labeled using glorious analog-only technology (otherwise known as a Post-It note).
The box is serial no. 218. There is a sticker on the rear of the box, and every LP also contains a serial number 218 sticker.
This box has been stored in a plastic sleeve, vertically, in a temperature-controlled room since purchase. In every way the box and the 11 LPs inside are original and in as-new condition. As you can tell from the plastic wrapping, EVERY photo in this posting is a photo of the actual box and the actual LPs for auction in their original packing sleeves. None of these photos are stock.
Albums included:
1. LSC-1806. STRAUSS: Also Sprach Zarathustra, Fritz Reiner/Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
2. LSC-1900. BERLIOZ: Symphonie Fantastique, Charles Munch/Boston Symphony Orchestra.
3. LSC-1934. BARTOK: Concerto for Orchestra. Fritz Reiner/Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
4. LSC-2234. SAINT-SAËNS: Piano Concerto #2, FRANCK: Symphonic Variations. Alfred Wallenstein/Symphony of the Air.
5. LSC 2398. KABALEVSKY: Comedians Suite, KHACHATURIAN: Masquerade Suite. Kyril Kondrashin/RCA Victor Symphony Orchestra.
6. LSC-2423. FESTIVAL. Fritz Reiner/Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
7. LSC 2456. LALO: Symphonie Espagnole. Henryk Szeryng, violin, Walter Hendl/Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
8. LSC-2471 RHAPSODIES (Liszt, Enesco & Smetana). Leopold Stokowski/RCA Victor Orchestra.
9. LSC-2500 STRAUSS: Waltzes. Fritz Reiner/Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
10. LSC-2541 LISZT: Todtentanz, RACHMANINOFF: Concerto No. 1, Byron Janis, piano, Fritz Reiner/Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
The RCA 1S box will be securely wrapped in bubble-wrap, and then packed in a sturdy box. Shipping will be charged at actual cost PLUS INSURANCE, which is required for a rare item so we don't argue about money in the event that a shipper makes an error.
I accept Paypal only; please don't ask about other payment methods. (You can use your credit card through Paypal.)
I will accept an international purchase, but I will wait 14 days after payment to ship. Sorry about that, but some international payments have been less than trustworthy. I will not misstate purchase price on customs forms — please don't ask me to do so.
IMPORTANT: Expect US shipping to total about $40 including insurance. It will be calculated after the end of the auction.
My feedback is flawless for a reason — I sell desirable items, and I do my best to treat others as I'd like to be treated. So please feel free to ask any questions, and bid with confidence! 586 (GS 6.8 (586))
