Description
What It Is: This is Classic Records first series reissue series from 1994, containing 10 Verve Records Jazz titles that were carefully remastered for this set. The box and each LP has an aluminum tag showing the serial number of the box: 0069.
I purchased this new and played it once on a high end system. It's been carefully stored, with each individual LP in a mylar sleeve (included). The disks are beautiful and flawless, and are graded M-. See below, and the scans for more details, but the box has scuffs and one bump, while almost all the jackets have seam splits from the records they contain. The jackets' seam splits were there when I received the set -- clearly Classic had a lot to learn about shipping LPs early in their career.
The records included in the box are:
- MG VS-64043 - Ella Fitzgerald: Let No Man Write My Epitaph
- V6-4053 - Ella Fitzgerald: Clap Hands Here Comes Charlie
- MG VS-6021 - Billie Holiday: Songs For Distingue Lovers
- MG VS-6055 - Duke Ellington & Johnny Hodges: Back To Back
- MG VS-6066 - Coleman Hawkins & Ben Webster: Encounters
- MG VS-6109 - Duke Ellington & Johnny Hodges: Side By Side
- MG VS-6149 Sonny Stitt: Blows The Blues
- MG VS-68358 - Johnny Hodges: Blues A-Plenty
- V6-8509 - Coleman Hawkins: Alive At The Village Gate
- V6-8762 - Bill Evans: At The Montreux Jazz Festival

country of origin: US
manufacturing date: 1994
shipping weight: 7 pounds, 7 oz
Condition:
Box: VG+: The box has one 1" bump at the bottom front and there are some scuffs on edges and the front.Jacket: VG+/VG: Most jackets have seams split over the edge titles, and some splits at the top of the jackets (apparently, this was before Classic learned how to package their product for shipping). However, each jacket has been stored in a mylar sleeve since I received it, so the front and back of each jacket is perfect.
Record: M-: The vinyl is perfect. Two disks how what may be single spindle marks on one side of the record, but I believe they were there when new.
Grading standards:
All items are visually graded, and if they've been play graded that will be noted. I follow Goldmine grading standards. My grading is conservative, at least as good as I would expect from anyone that I would buy from.Payment:
I accept PayPal. If you must return the item, it must be in the same condition that I sent it, but I will refund your full purchase price and return shipping cost within the USA (outside of the USA, I'll refund the bid price, but you must pay for return shipping unless I've made a serious error, in which case I'll pay shipping too) -- I guarantee your satisfaction.Shipping cost and Insurance:
Within the USA: I ship via the US Postal Service, priority and media mail. Costs are based on the shipping weight and package size. Please contact me for shipping to other locations. As always, if your winning bid is above $50, I will pay for insurance within the USA.Outside of the USA: I'm willing to ship outside of the USA, cost based on the winner's address and size and weight of the package. I usually insist on airmail for reasonable delivery time and better handling. I state the shipping size and weight in the ad so that you'll have an idea of cost, though final determination of shipping cost will occur when the auction completes. Unfortunately I can't offer free insurance as it often gets quite expensive for overseas shipment, however, I strongly advise that you select insurance as I cannot be responsible for delivery in another country.
Thanks for looking and bidding!
