Description
New home needed for a collection of vintage classical music Shellac 78rpm record sets in original folders and with original music notes from the record labels.
- Columbia Masterworks Series – Rosamunde by Schubert in 8 parts on 4 records. Columbia label 04197, 04198, 04149 and 04200. The Halle Orchestra conducted by Sir Hamilton Harty.
- HMV Label, 5 records ED53, ED54, ED55, ED56, EDS57 – Beethoven Concerto in D Major, OP 61 for Violin and Orchestra played by Jascha Heifetz and the N.B.C Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Arturo Toscanini.
- HMV label, 4 records DB3822, DB3823, DB3824, DB3825 – Beethoven Symphony No5 in C Minor. Op 67. The N.B.C. Symphony Orchestra conducted by Arturo Toscanini.
- HMV Label, 6 record set DB3712, DB3713, DB3714, DB3715, DB 3716, DB3717 – Brahms Concerto No1 in D Minor, Op 15. Played by Artur Schnabel and the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Georg Szell.
- Columbia Label, 4 record set DOX-581, DOX-582, DOX-583, DOX-584 – Tchaikovsky The Swan Lake Ballet Selection Op 20. Played by the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Anton Dorati.
- HMV Label 4 record set ED148, ED149, ED150, ED151 – Tchaikovsky Concerto No 1 in B Flat Minor, Op 25. Played by Vladimir Horowitz and the NMB Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Artur Toscanini.
- HMV Label 4 record set EB248, EB249, EB250, EB251 – Tchaikovsky Concerto No2 in G Major, Op 44. Played by Benno Moiseiwitsch and the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by George Weldon.
All of the records appear to be in excellent condition and free of any visible scratches. However, I have only played a sample of them, not every single disc so there may be some that do not play perfectly. The record sleeves and folders, and the accompanying music notes are in very good condition, although some of the sleeves show minor wear and damage. In general though all of the record sets are complete and in excellent condition considering they are 80-90 years old.
As the records are made of Shellac rather than vinyl, they are extremely heavy and weigh 15.8kg before any packaging! I have quoted delivery by Economy Courier at £9.50 to any UK mainland destination. Payment by Paypal please, and I will send the record sets within two days of receiving payment.
However, I am happy for a buyer to pay cash on collection without the delivery charge if you would prefer to collect the records from Burgess Hill in Mid Sussex.
