Description

  • Deep groove 1954 monaural original copy of Count Basie’s first Clef label 12" LP "Count Basie Dance Session" (Clef MG C 626) featuring a killer David Stone Martin cover.
  • This 1954 release features arrangements by some of the best in the business Johnny Mandel, Neal Hefti, Ernie Wilkins, and Frank Wess. Clef liner notes normally identify the musicians playing on their LPs but this one does not. Suffice it to say, if they were with Basie they were the best.
  • The track list is: Straight Life/Basie Goes Wess/Softly, With Feeling/Peace Pipe/Blues Go Away!/Cherry Point/Bubbles/Right On/The Blues Done Come Back/Plymouth Rock.
  • The glossy LP is visually near mint. I’m unable to see even one spindle mark on the labels. The performances are crisp and full with just some light surface noise. The glossy cover is also in beautiful condition with no splits, tears, writing or stains. There is a crease in the upper right corner.
