Description

THE COCONUT GROVE AMBASSADORS

Hard-to find 16-inch recording of this famous Hotel Orchestra

I believe it is from 1934

Back in the early thirties, this was a hot program on the radio, as it brought all of America a little closer to the Hollywood Stars.

The Coconut Grove was a huge club, frequented by some of Hollywood's elite, such as Louis B. Meyer, Charlie Chaplin, Errol Flynn, Jean Harlow, Clark Gable.

The sound quality of these recordings is quite good, with little surface noise and good fidelity. Recorded at 33 RPM, Inside-Out, on the Transco label.

Someone has thoughtfully put labels identifying individual songs.

Series J, Programs 1-A and 1-B

The Woman in the Shoe    Jack Howard Vocal

Medley by Orchestra:

My Blue Heaven

For Me and My Gal

Shine on Harvest Moon

Annie Doesn't Live Here Any More    Jack Howard & the 3 Blue Keys

At the Bottom of the Hill    Jack Howard, Vocal

Medley by Orchestra

Moonlight and Roses

Roses of Picartdi

Liza    Rusty Bennett, Vocal

These discs are EXTREMELY heavy (2 LBS each, before packing, about 1/4-inch thick) and breakable (made of a bakelite-like substance, not at all flexible); would shatter like glass if dropped.

There will be a $5.00 packing charge added, to cover cost of extra packing materials, so it arrives in one piece.

More available, if interested.
