Description

THE COCONUT GROVE AMBASSADORS

Hard-to find 16-inch recording of this famous Hotel Orchestra

I believe it is from 1934

Back in the early thirties, this was a hot program on the radio, as it brought all of America a little closer to the Hollywood Stars.

The Coconut Grove was a huge club, frequented by some of Hollywood's elite, such as Louis B. Meyer, Charlie Chaplin, Errol Flynn, Jean Harlow, Clark Gable.

The sound quality of these recordings is quite good, with little surface noise and good fidelity. Recorded at 33 RPM, Inside-Out, on the Transco label.

Someone has thoughtfully put labels identifying individual songs.

The picture is generic.  The item is VERY similar.

Series C, Programs 7-A and 7-B

Includes:

Down Among the Sleepy Pines     The 3 Ambassadors

Stardust     Voc.  Don Novis

Sugar     Orchestra

March of the Marionettes     Orchestra

Music in the Moonlight     Voc. Don Novis

I'll Make A Happy Landing     The 3 Ambassadors

These discs are EXTREMELY heavy (2 LBS each, before packing, about 1/4-inch thick) and breakable (made of a bakelite-like substance, not at all flexible); would shatter like glass if dropped.  For this reason there will be a $5.00 packing charge added, to cover cost of extra packing materials, so it arrives in one piece.

More available, in future eBay auctions.

I make a sincere effort to describe the items listed to the best of my ability. To date, I have had NO complaints. If you feel the item was misrepresented, PLEASE email me first. We can work something out. I am proud of my 100% feedback score, and would like to keep it that way. Unfortunately, I have had to block bidders with fewer than 5 Feedbacks. If you're new to ebay, contact me to allow your bid.

Thank you for understanding.
