These include wonderful, intimate renditions of Cole's favorites "Sweet Lorraine", "(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66" and many others. Trombonist Juan Tizol brings a wonderful version of his Afro-Cuban piece "Caravan" and Cole the fast, lively "I Know That You Know", together with violinist Stuff Smith. For anyone who wants to understand the deeper meaning of Cole's roots in jazz, this record is the perfect starting point. Nat "King" Cole's music is the perfect combination of romantic charm and musical imagination. Cole is famous for his big productions and pop hits like "Stardust", but he was also an accomplished and one-of-a-kind jazz pianist, especially in small ensembles. The cover of "After Midnight" shows a trio, but besides Cole and his trio five other guest soloists play saxophone, trombone, trumpet, percussion and violin - the line-ups mentioned on the cover are incorrect in this regard.

The present in this version Acout Tech Mastering Edition dominates all previous reissue series that you have known so far.
7 tracks on 3 records, best 180 gram vinyl material and the Acous Tech studio team Kevin Gray and Steve Hoffman , guarantee audiophile enjoyment from Nat Cole on a whole new level.
During the original recordings at that time, completely independent mono and three-channel versions were created. Not only did they have different microphone heads, but they were also processed on different consoles and recorded on different tape machines.
AcousTech had to set up the studio from scratch in order to be able to carry out the revision of the tapes to the highest technical standard.
Only the task itself, to have a new 3-channel tape head made for a Studer machine, took several weeks.
The original multitrack tapes from Capitol were used for the mix, which is a better quality than the master tape previously released for publication.
The problem now was to bring the musicians recorded individually on the multitrack tapes together.
A new recording room was constructed especially for this purpose in order to ensure a common reproduction of the individual channels with correct room reverberation.
Incredibly, part of the RTI platen pressin the halls of which AcousTech is staying should be stopped so that no machine noise or kicks can disturb the new recording.
This enormous effort justifies the price of this work in any case and is much more convincing than a much cheaper digitally processed variant.
