KFC Promotional LP Near Mint Plus
This, in 1968, was one of many exploito concepts of
George Garabedian, founder of Mark56 Records and
producer of most all of its content. He also produced other
knock offs of Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass, such as the
title, "Tijuana Taxi" - a Taco Bell marketing tie-in, etc.
Ordinarily, one would assume, as I did, that the actual
recorded content, would be poorly executed and
produced, but much to my shock, that was far from the
case.
There are no musician credits (even Discogs hasn't
uncovered any) - but whoever is playing on this LP,
one listen tells you they are all top notch session guys
in L.A. and even the recording itself is very professionally
done - dynamic, punchy, excellently staged for Stereo
and the imaging is superb. A pleasant surprise
for something that would ordinarily just score some
points as a novelty item surrounding the Colonel and his
once great Kentucky Fried Chicken.
LP: (Graded) Near Mint Plus, according to Goldmine record grading definitions. This record grades as an LP that appears to either have been just opened or possibly handled or played once only in the most cautious manner possible. A virtual Mint Minus. No signs of use.
The plating surface and labels are pristine with as new glossiness. The LP is exceptionally clean and turntable ready.
Play Grade: Near Mint Plus / Mint Minus
