CONDITION DETAILS Vinyl plays nicely (play-tested). Cover looks good; light scuffing and a few surface impressions on front; back has somewhat heavier scuffing (see photo). Inner sleeve is original (photos/lyrics). Spine is easy-to-read with wear near center. Shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge and corners. Opening is crisp with signs of light use. (Top left corner is cut out.)
ABOUT THE RECORD After moving to Epic (under Sony Music Entertainment), Color Me Badd's fourth studio album, Awakening, was released on July 28, 1998 featured the single Remember When which peaked at number 48 on the Hot 100. Around this time, Abrams had developed an alcohol problem, and the group was beginning to fall apart. The newly married Thornton decided to leave the band to pursue the ministry, and Watters wanted to go off on his own to write and produce. With Abrams and Calderon the only remaining members, the group split up. A reviewer on allmusic.com says, "After climbing to the top of the charts with a number 1 R&B hit, I Wanna Sex You Up, Color Me Badd disappeared from the radar screen. The erstwhile teen heart-throbs have matured into a group of strong-voiced R&B/pop crooners. AWAKENING finds them deep into jeep soul (All The Way Pt. 1), head-nodding urban radio pumpers (Kissing You) and sultry ballads (Your Touch). Reuniting the group with Dr. Freeze, who produced I Wanna Sex You Up, the funk-flavored Farmers Daughter has a new-jack-swing feel which showcases the dynamic vocal range of the group. It's Alright has a way-cool Reggae breakdown and Written All Over Your Face has the makings of a sure-fire radio smash. Reflecting Color Me Badd's multi-ethnicity, AWAKENING offers a diverse collection of styles, songs and textures."
