Colosseum – Daughter Of Time (The Daughter Of Time Is Truth) was issued in the UK in December 1970 on Vertigo (Swirl) 6360017. It is one of the very few first pressings to have the full Swirl on the A-Side label. For reasons unknown, only a few copies were pressed with the full Swirl A-Side label before the label changed to two small Swirls with the tracklisting on both the A and B side labels and the overwhelming majority of copies you see have the tracklisting on both sides of the label and NO full Swirl. Matrix numbers are 636 0017 11420 1 / 636 0017 21420 1. Absolutely a genuine very first pressing. 

Daughter of Time was the 4th and final studio album by the original band before they broke up in 1971. The band had been formed in September 1968 by drummer Jon Hiseman, tenor sax player Dick Heckstall-Smith and bass player Tony Reeves, who had previously worked together in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers on the Bare Wires album. Dave Greenslade, on organ, was recruited, and the line-up was completed by Jim Roche on guitar. The line-up of the band was volatile and several changes took place over their short career and even during the recording of this album.

Matt gatefold sleeve is in Very Good + condition with mild edge and cornerwear, the beginnings of ringwear at the top and bottom of the rear and a few small patches of colour fade / loss.

The original Swirl innersleeve – unusually with a white swirl inside a black background – is present and completely intact, although exhibiting some yellowing from age and with a small tear downwards from the bottom of the label window.

The vinyl is in Very Good + condition. The record plays through perfectly without any sticks, jumps or sound distortion. There are visible hairlines and these cause some light but audible crackle particularly in the quieter sections of the music on Side 1. Side 2 is also a bit crackly, but less so than Side 1, again with light audible crackle in the gaps between the tracks and in the quietest sections of the music.

I absolutely guarantee my gradings as played through my system. All my records are cleaned on a Moth Mk II RCM and play-graded in their entirety on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with RB300 tonearm and Denon DL-304 MC cartridge tracking at 1.5 g through an azur 840a amp via Chord Odyssey 4 bi-wired cable into KEF Q900 speakers. Inferior component-type turntables without proper tracking are more prone to sticking and jumping than high-grade turntables. If you love vinyl, do yourself a favour and invest in a decent system if you don't already own one. You don't have to pay thousands. Excellent quality 2nd hand turntables are available on eBay for around £100 (about the price of 1 rare LP). Your investment will be more than rewarded by the additional listening pleasure you derive.

Grading :

M = Mint - as new

NM = Near Mint - very few, light signs of usage that don’t affect play - the cover has only minor signs of wear.

EX = Excellent - some signs of usage, but very little lessening in sound quality – the cover might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VG = Very Good - no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch - normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items.

G = Good - the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches - the cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

+ and - are used as appropriate.

Shipping Policy :

If not still sealed, records are taken out of the sleeve to avoid splitting. They are posted in professional mailers with proper stiffeners for extra protection. These are pre-used and so are provided free of charge. A polythene sleeve is also always included.
