Description

Original UK Vertigo Spiral label stereo LP.
The second Colosseum LP released in November 1969, one of the first bands to fuse jazz, rock & blues, they were formed in Spring 1968 by drummer Jon Hiseman with tenor sax player Dick Heckstall-Smith, who had first played together in the Graham Bond Organization. This is the original pressing with the large Vertigo label with the 'Phillips Record Product' label text, the first 1Y/1 2Y/1 matrices and 1-1- 1-1- stampers of the very 1st presses.
The matt widespine gatefold sleeve is in EX condition, with some light corner/edge wear and light storage rubbing on the outer cover and some light rubbing, with a crease along the inner cover. The spine is intact & fully readable, the Vertigo inner is intact, discoloured and in VG+ condition.

The record is in visually EX condition, with a few faint sleeve removal hairlines and a couple of light needle scuffs visible on each side that do not affect play. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a few faint spindle markings on each side.

The sound reproduction is EX, clear & vibrant throughout, with no loud pops, crackle or hiss & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves, overall a really great, loud & clear listen.    The matrix nos. are 886775, 1Y/1-420 mother stamper 1-1-18, 2Y/1-420 mother stamper 1-1-28. This is the one of the early pressings of the original 1969 UK stereo 1st issue of the album.
