Description

Columbia 15303D- Gid Tanner & His Skillet-Lickers (A) Hen Cackle; (B) Cumberland Gap. Recorded 4/10/1928. Graded E-. Has an assortment of tiny scratches and rub marks. They are all inaudible. Very little needle wear. The playback is very good and without distortion. Hen Cackle has twin fiddles Gid Tanner and Clayton McMichen; Riley Puckett on guitar. The only “vocals” are from Gid: A few words at the start plus hen cackling and rooster crowing. Tanner and Puckett recorded this tune in 1924 as well. I’m auctioning a copy of that recording also. Cumberland Gap has the twin fiddlers with Puckett doing the vocals and guitar.
