INFO important early piano solos from 1923 by Harlem Stride piano legend JAMES P. JOHNSON - Not for nothing, but I purchased this copy in the 1980's from equally legendary record dealer Bob Altschuler who had just purchased the collection of record producer/ jazz scholar JOHN HAMMOND SR. Bob told me that this recording was one of the first jazz records Hammond had purchased as a young man and considered it an extremely important early jazz disc..there were three copies in his collection!
