Available for auction is a 7 LP box set of Beethoven's Symphonies with the Columbia Symphony Orchestra conducted by Bruno Walter. Disc four (Symphony No. 6) is featured on Harry Pearson's TAS list. This is certainly a musical document to compete with those of Furtwangler.

I have sold a number of this particular set over the years, none have had a complete set of LPs in such outstanding condition and without notable flaw. In many other instances you'll find a set with production flaws (warping, bubbles, etc.) on one or more discs. This is the earliest pressing of the set that I have ever come across.

Comes complete with special 50-page Columbia Records "A Beethoven Reader" booklet in near-mint condition.

Recorded largely in 1958 and released in 1959. Produced by John McClure. This is a US original edition, audiophile, first pressing of MS 6078, MS 6036, MS 6055, MS 6012, MS 6082, MS 6098, MS 6099 with matrix numbers:

Black and grey Columbia Masterworks six-eye "Stereo Fidelity" label.

Exterior packaging is VG+ with minimal wear, slight damage on corners (as is common for this set). Interior storage pockets are all EX with minimal discoloration and wrinkles (and two minor tears). Original inner sleeves (thin plastic Columbia embossed) are EX, complete, and included in the set.

Vinyl condition EX+. Play tested on Nottingham Dais turntable with London Decca Reference cartridge. Loricraft machine cleaned with L'Art du Son cleaning fluid: each disc is shiny, with faint and few spindle marks.
