Columbia UK SAX 2415 B/S - BEETHOVEN Symphony No.7 – Otto Klemperer

This is one of a number of vinyl records from the 1950’s & 60’s listed this week which we no longer listen to. Little played, the records are still in very good condition, the covers sometimes less so.

Gradings are based on the “Record Collector Magazine's Guide” set out in the eBay Guides together with notes about condition added. Extracts from the Gramophone Magazine review written at the time of the record’s release are included, with the permission of the publishers, where these are available.

RECORD GRADING

EXCELLENT

A really excellent copy of this record. Both sides are very clean and almost entirely without surface marks; there is one very short hairline on side 1 but I heard no sound to associate with it

Very occasionally there is a little feint surface noise, but I heard very, very little unwanted sound throughout this record and then only a very light tick, almost certainly dust

The sound quality is really excellent on this superbly preserved record.

COVER GRADING

GOOD

Although this cover has only a few light scuffs at the corners and edges and is largely clean with just a little age discolouration, it has to be graded only as Good because at some time the face has been torn – all the way across the middle – and stuck together with a strip of sticky tape. Also, a small piece has been lost from the right edge of the font face. All this is visible in the photograph

The EMI inner sleeve, with the names and recordings of some of their great artists, is clean, undamaged and only lightly creased
