LESLIE SCOTT: A native New Yorker, started his musical education at the age of twelve as soloist for the Sheloh Ehall Electric Choir; when he performed in many cities of the New England states; and at sixteen had his own radio show in Boston under the name of Ray Lester. When the second world war came along, Leslie Scott was placed in the Special Services Division of the the United States Army as an entertainment director; staging and directing musical productions and dramatic plays. After the war, he joined Louis Armstrong as featured vocalist and stayed with Satchmo for three and a half years, until the group disbanded. Then in 1949, Scott went with Xavier Cugat's Orchestra, during which time his recording of "Strange Mood" and "African Lament" became big hits..."
IRENE WILLIAMS: Flame haired daughter of Clarence Williams entered the professional singing ranks at the age of seventeen and rose quickly as an artist of consummate ability. A supper club favorite, her twenty-eight week run at the "Blue Angel" is a record that still stands. AS a vocalist, she appeared with the Chillison Trio in the top clubs of Chicago, Cleveland and Toronto; and in 1954, co-starred with Leslie Scott in "Porgy and Bess" - her three and a half octave range lending new dimensions to the role of Gershwin's heroine..."
