The 12 page LP size booklet features an essay by jazz scholor Dan Morgenstern, newly researched biographies of Quebec and Hardee, and rare photographs. Musicians include Tiny Grimes, Ram Ramirez, Milt Hinton, Buck Clayton, Tyree Glenn, Oscar Pettiford and others. REVIEW "This limited-edition four-LP box set from Mosaic has all the early Blue Note recordings of tenors John Hardee and Ike Quebec. The little-known three sessions from Hardee are from 1946 (one is under the leadership of guitarist Tiny Grimes) and find him in top form on a variety os swing-based originals, along with a few standards. In addition to Grimes, the sidemen include trombonist Trummy Young, guitarist Jimmy Shirley, and pianists Marlowe Morris and Sammy Benskin. Quebec's early Blue Note dates are superior examples of small-group swing and have solo space for some notable stars: guitarist Tiny Grimes; pianist Ram Rameriez; trumpeters Jonah Jones, Buck Clayton, and Shad Collins; and trombonists Tyree Glenn and Keg Johnson. This 1984 box is certainly definitive but promises to be difficult to find" Scott Yanow, All Music Guide SHIPPING US shipping $10.00 priority/first class mail. $18 Europe and $21 Asia (Air).
