Here is a very very rare LP ACETATE cut at A&R cutting room in NEW YORK. This cutting room acetates tend to be extremely hard to find-probably due to the fact they were expensive and they weren't, shall we say, over used!!! I have about 6 from the same studio or different artists but this one is probably the rarest. In essence there are 8 tracks here . 7 are from the LIVE LP-I suspect the same takes-but you fans will know better than I can. The track HAIR -which is in Mono-I think isn't live. Ok the info and tracks from the A&R label run like this;- Various Artists by THE COWSILLS A SIDE HAIR ( mono) Walk away Renee The cruel war Hello, Hello B side Monday Monday Mr Postman Reach Out Good golly Now I have collected acetates for years and when you have an item like this it's often hard to say exactly why it was done. My best guess is that was either to simply see how those particular tracks sounded or to check a running order. In listening to the opening of Side b you can hear the tape skipping back and forwards on the spoken intro which is a definite sign it's a completely technical test. The acetate from 1969 is in wonderful shape with just a few little hairlines. The only defect is on the track HAIR there is a small skip-I can't see quite why- I will have it cleaned again but as it stands it's there-its possible its a fault within the cut-having said that I have just recorded the clips and it's DISAPPEARED!!! This track also has some background playing sound-it does exist on other tracks but it's very light. Listen to the clips. So in closing this is an extremely rare 40 year artifact-which is absolutely a one off configuration. Any questions let me know. I have managed to do the clips back to front so its starts with side 2 then side 1-little clips from each-you will notice playing sound is really on the opening tracks more than anywhere else.
