Description
Cream Wheels Of Fire In The Studio Mono UK 1st Pressing from 1968.
Creams 3rd album White Room , Politician, was released in UK in mono and stereo in 1968 for many the studio mono is the prize to be found in good shape, this one is Ex sleeve Near Ex , the " Tin foil" sleeve was later changed to card so a 1st UK copy is a great example of album cover art in the period.
"Wheels" was actually the first rock album to go platinum.
A great studio release and some say their finest hour, the studio Mono being now sought after.
This is from my own collection, I am not a dealer, in the next few months I am selling off part of my collection, some collectable and rarities, no filler! Thanks for looking!

The Mono version was deleted from the polydor catalogue soon after.
Compare the 500000 us copies with 60000 in UK and its pretty simple to appreciate how few remain in ex or near ex order.
Creams 3rd studio album was recorded at studios
Felix Paparardi produced this album which sold many more copies in the US with a double albulm incudi g a live disc also , great studio productiom a fore some more mature than Creams earlier Reaction records Debut `Fresh Cream` and 'Disraelli gears'
This was a ground-breaking album in many ways moving forward the Blueprint of a power trio stripped back, many later acts would follow this template..this took Cream further away from their blues based roots and the era of Psychedelic sound...the band were becoming famous for `stretching out` the songs live.
Creams 3rd album achieved 500000 sales in the US following the Summer of Love where the band were now hugely popular in their live shows and extended performances, Eric Claptons guitar had taken on a much more confident and heavier style having witnessed Jimi Hendrix perform and shared the stage with Jimi in London during 67, Jimi had taken things to another level and pushed things forwards at great pace. Both Eric and his close friend George Harrison were influenced and it shows here...like many of the guitar players in London at that time.
some standout tracks here white room and poitician written with Felix Papparaldi who would continue to contribute throughout Eric's career. Both of these in glorious Mono are forever linked to the Summer Of Love in books and numerous films of the period... the famous sleeve created by designer Martin Sharp who has also created Disraeli Gears,
Tom Dowd produced this which has incredible audio. Recorded at IBC London and Atlantic studios NYC.
The Record
Excellent A B1
Ex vinyl A1B1 uk 1st pressing from 1968, some light surface lines only under light . audio has some light static and a few clicks , its Ex with some scuffs and scrapes from sleeve removal over the years, bear in mind this is now a 55 year old vinyl record! Nice fat pre oil crisis 60s mono vinyl wow !Plays Ex with bright crisp and clear sound may benefit from a professional clean (we don't do this as it's an individual thing) some light background static and clicks are noticeable in the quieter passages but nothing to disrupt playing no sticks or jumps on our Rega 3.
The labels are free of writing doodles or names, they retain great bold colours with no fade we can notice under light.
"Ex " vinyl a keeper nice audio.
The sleeve
Near Excellent
Despite having done it's job over the years, the foil sleeve has some light ring wear (see photos) its a little worn from handling like some of these have after over 55 years storage .
fully llaminated front and rear this sleeve ,some light creasing normal but in decent shape . a keeper for sure. spine shows some wear see photo but at 55 its looking near ex.
the sleeve is a 55 years old and has seen some use, really nice corners, spine fully readable.clean.
Its fair to say that these first 1968 copies are getting collectable ....still has its original inner supplied in a quality new pvc lined sleeve.
Plays through with great punchy Mono sound on the Rega 3
See photos....Please note this item is advertised for sale elsewhere also
