On offer here is an Original First press Mono copy of Wheels Of Fire by Cream, released on the Polydor label in 1968, catalogue number 582013.
The gatefold "Silver Foil" sleeve is in very good condition with shelf wear and clear tape on the edges, but this is not very obtrusive. Graded Very Good.
The detail of the makers, Ernest J Day & Co Ltd., London WC1, can clearly be seen on the inside of the gatefold.
This is a legendary album and cover, with fantastic art by Martin Sharp who also had some of his work published in some copies of OZ magazine around this time.
Both the vinyls are heavyweight pressings, and although they both have scuff marks from where the spindle has caught the record, and a few light non peneatrative hairlines, because the vinyl and the pressing is so good it does not affect play apart from a few clicks from probably the worst mark on the albums at the end of "Toad".
The "Rough" |Red Polydor labels are in excellent condition but with many spindle marks.
The matrix numbers are 582031 A v 1 420 1 1 and B v 420 1 1.
This is a classic album, one of my all time favorites and arguably the best from this fine group, no serious rock collection should be without it. This is not an album for the very fussy collector or one who wants total silence between tracks, if this is required then CD would be the route for you.
However, this is a slice of rock history, a great play copy. Turn it up and you could be there at the Fillmore with Clapton Bruce and Baker, and all in glorious Mono.
The records will be sent outside of their cover in a polythene sleeve sandwiched between two 12" cardboard stiffeners in a heavy duty record mailer made by Covers 33.
