Description

This may well be THE Holy Grail of Adrian Sherwood and ON-U Sound related records. Hitrun Records #4 released way back in 1979 in the UK, the Creation Rebel LP entitled Rebel Vibrations. This is MUCH rarer than their Close Encounters LP on the same label, and the music is SO MUCH BETTER as well. Close Encounters is more generic sounding with slicker production and mediocre vocals. Rebel Vibrations has no vocals, rawer yet excellent production, much better sound effects from the mixing, and just overall MUCH better playing by the band, with excellent percussion by all members of the group. Sounds like what it is, a great predessessor to the legendary ON-U Sound. Band is Style Scott, Lizard, Clifton Morrison, Tony the General, Doctor Pablo (GREAT melodica on this LP!), and Liddon. Songs are Rebel Vibration, Jungle Affair, Hunger and Strife, Ian Smith Rock Dub, Diverse Doctor, Mountain Melody, Black Lion Dub, Doctors Remedy. Colorful custom labels with a dreadlocked man playing acoustic guitar on the labels, both are in VG++ condition, one has a tiny ‘T’ written in red ink that is mostly on the red stripe. Vinyl plays a SUPERB Mint-, sounds great with a big warm live sound. Looks VG++ under a bright light with nice surface GLOSS and a few minor surface marks. Under indirect light looks M-. Front cover is VG+ with minor ring wear, a small minor sticker stain, fading along the spine (can still clearly read the artist, title and catalog #APLP 9004 on the spine) and a ½” of minor wear on the middle of the bottom seam (not split). Top seam and spine are intact. Back cover is a strong VG+ with minor ring wear. In my opinion this is the best pre-ON-U record there is. It is from my personal collection, I’ve been collecting ON-U for over 20 years and have never seen another copy. I’m not just a fan and collector, but own a record store and sell for a living, otherwise I wouldn’t sell it and I would never be selling it if it wasn’t worth top dollar. An absolute must have addition to your dub, reggae and ON-U sound collections. Will not ship it cheap media mail due to it’s value. Priority mail $7. in the U.S., air mail $12. to most countries. Insurance extra, I pack it carefully. Check our perfect feedback rating. For hundreds of rare records and tons of hard to find new stuff … we are now in San Rafael, just 15 minutes north of San Francisco. Thanks for looking and best of luck bidding!
